I don’t usually rave on about new releases, but I’ve just got to share this one with you all. It’s in the category of contemporary singer/songwriter and features great songwriting, a marvelously textured voice that I just can’t get enough of and production that seems exactly right for each song. Combining all these facts, this release takes me through many moods from contemplative to uplifting. For example, the track ‘The Island Song’ is intriguing in the writing and just draws you into the song. “I Will Run” is a song that encourages such positive emotion; I would love to hear this song as an encore at a live concert. “Don’t Tear Down” demonstrates the artist’s relaxed confident manner and powerful craft. There are so many musicians from the West coast that I have admired over the years (Gene Clark, Roger McGuinn, Jackson Browne); I think in some way “Right Side of Zero” encapsulates a lot of these influences for me.
