Biography
The Music Korner—January, 2002
A Crooked Line is a disc full of solid acoustic based tunes with captivating storytelling lyrics covering everything from history (“California (Rutherford Hayes in the Morning)”) to personal loss (“Bryant Street”, the touching and heartfelt story of a half-sister he never met) to life in general (“I Lost a Day To The Rain”, an interesting observation of, as Darryl says “the only three characters of Western civilization who can be immediately associated with rainfall: Noah, Ben Franklin and Gene Kelly”), all told in a singer-songwriter style strongly reminiscent of James Taylor and Harry Chapin. —Geoff Melton
