Biography
NAPRA Review - Jan/Feb 2000
Purpose has the tools to become the ultimate coffeehouse folk singer/songwriter. He’s an excellent acoustic finger-picker, and his voice sounds like a blend of Harry Chapin and Neil Young. While at times it seems that his original melodies need a few more surprises, the simple, cleanly rhythmic settings mostly guitar and fiddle sneak up and grab you. It’s virtually impossible to listen to the wedding song “Ring On My Hand” without getting choked up, and his rueful ballads about disappointing his lovers and his child by moving on have the sincere ring of hard-lived truth.
