Lucy Kaplansky Mailing List - November 1999
This album, Darryl’s third on the New York based Tangible Music label is the ideal showcase for his songwriting talents. He has an ability to capture his observations and real life adventures, and he crafts life’s experiences into intelligent, melodious and captivating songs. Musically it contains some intricate guitar work from Darryl and some subtle assistance from string and bass in places - there is a good mix of acoustic tracks and a few out and out band numbers add contrast to the set. There’s strong support on the album from some exceptional musicians, and a few ‘star turns’ in the form of support from Ellis Paul and there’s a great duet with Lucy Kaplansky on ‘Ring on My Hand’.
