elle thomas is a 36-year-old college student at Regis University in Denver, working on a degree in "Peace & Justice from a Feminist Perspective." She was home schooled on a commune in northern Vermont, and her mother swore she was conceived at Woodstock. Her first peace rally was in 1977 at the Seabrook Nuclear Power Plant in New Hampshire, and her most traumatic was the 1999 World Trade Organization protest in Seattle, where she became intimately acquainted with the new plastic handcuffs that all the police are using these days.
